Workshops, Theater, Arts, and Mayan Publications MEF is pleased to collaborate and assist the two Mexican NGOs, FOMMA and Sna Jtz’ibajom. Under the vital direction and with the unwavering support of Bob and Mimi Laughlin, these groups have become important, independent, high-caliber organizations. Their projects, in addition to the Mayan language workshops mentioned above, include the writing, production and performance of culturally relevant, often controversial and courageous plays. Sna Jtz’ibajom’s work also involves the production of Mayan literature and the transcription of Mayan indigenous texts that otherwise might be lost. FOMMA offers bakery, catering, sewing, and other workshops which are attended mostly by women and some men. FOMMA offers a nursery and childcare for their children.
